Apple Focus quiets the banners. It does not open the desk.
The banners stop. The desk does not change.
Work Focus can silence Messages. Sleep can dim the Lock Screen. Do Not Disturb can hold a banner while you finish a paragraph. You can turn any of those on by hand, or ask for them. What you get is a change in who is allowed to interrupt you.
The writing app is still closed. Slack is still open. Last night’s windows are still on the wrong display. You rebuild the desk yourself.
Say the desk
Amhara does not replace System Settings → Focus. Apple’s feature is a notification filter, and it is good at that. It does not launch a set of apps, close the rest, or restore a window layout.
A Session does. “Start Deep Work” opens that desk: the apps, the sites, the layout. You can leave Focus on for the interruptions, and use the Session for what is actually on screen. You can say it, or start it from the menu bar, a shortcut, a schedule, or a calendar event.
